Electricity · Plan type

Fixed-rate electricity plans one price, all term.

A fixed-rate plan locks your price per kilowatt-hour for the length of the contract. Your bill still moves with how much you use, but the rate behind it will not change when the market spikes in July or January.

Rate certainty

The price per kWh is contractually locked for the full term.

Weather-proof

Heat waves and cold snaps change your usage, not your rate.

Longer term, lower rate

12- and 24-month terms usually price below month-to-month.

What works well

  • Predictable price per kWh
  • Protection from market spikes
  • Widest plan selection
  • Easy to compare apples to apples

Trade-offs to expect

  • Early termination fee if you leave early
  • You will not benefit if market rates fall

Common questions

What happens when my fixed-rate term ends?

Most suppliers roll you onto a month-to-month variable rate, which is often much higher. Set a reminder for 30 days before your end date and re-shop.

Does a fixed rate mean a fixed bill?

No. The rate is fixed; the bill still tracks your usage. A hot August will cost more than a mild October on the same plan.

Electricity is a separate ScoutRoo service from home internet. Rates shown are illustrative market averages — confirm terms on the supplier's facts label before enrolling.
